Fifth- and Sixth-Month Favorites

It's amazing how quickly you go through some items and favorites from one month may not even be used the next month, but then there are others that while not on the list, are still heavily used. From the last favorites post, the mobile is still a hit and still really calming for the babies, but they're also more active with it too. They love to be held standing near it and try to pull the moving animals. The picnic blanket will also be used for a while to come, though we're not going to the park/laying on the blanket as much. I've been taking them to a different park and putting them in the swings more. The bibs are also a popular one still, though luckily their spitting up has slightly subsided. Of course, like at the park last week, not even a minute after I took off the bib (a good almost 2 hours after eating), William decides to spit up :)

There are probably a bunch of toys that could be on this list as well and the boys seem to enjoy and play with most of them, especially since I try to swap out the options with new ones every day. Their current favorites seem to be a kitchen whisk, measuring spoons, catalogs (they love crunching the paper and chewing on it) and the tubing to my breast pump -- especially when it's still on but not connected, so suctioning air at the ends. Something else that's been a hit and should probably be on the list above, are Indestructibles books. Great to chew on, but can also be rinsed on when spit up on.

This time I didn't focus just on stuff for them, but in general things that have been well-used in our home over the past two months.

1. Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask - I originally purchased this several years ago as the blinds in our room don't really keep out the light that well and I think I was still used to the amazing blackout shades from our Swiss apartment. I highly recommend this for moms though, as it stays on, is super-comfy on the face and blocks out light completely. Perfect when going back to bed at 6:45am and trying to get a bit more sleep, or for moms who are trying to get a nap in during the day. I even gifted our night nanny with one of these.
2. Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Hand Cream SPF15 - Between trying to stay clean for the babies and washing bottles and pump parts seven times a day, it's nearly impossible for my hands not to dry out. I've been good about lotion, but I keep this on the console table by the front door and apply before I leave the house. Especially now that we're heading into winter and my arms are covered more, it's still nice to get sunscreen on the tops of the hands since they're in direct sunshine when pushing the stroller.
3. Cortizone10 Intensive Healing Eczema Lotion - Although the doctor doesn't seem to think George has eczema, he definitely has sensitive skin and had a flaky scalp and dry patches on his arms and legs. I've tried lots of lotions, but this one really made a big difference fast.
4. Gerber Sleep-and-Play 3-pack - I have a selection of organic cotton sleepers and trust me, they're nice, but these fit so well, zipper so super easy to get on and off for diaper changes and they're a perfect weight for William who tends to get hot. Great price too!
5. Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra - Definitely my favorite nursing bra, I can't believe I just have one of these. Can mostly do one-handed which I feel like is key for a nursing bra, super comfortable and somewhat supportive (none of them are too supportive). On a side note, definitely get a lot of use out of this pumping bra.
6. MacBook Air - Dave asked me back in April if I wanted a lighter computer, but always one to push off spending more money when I had a perfectly good MacBook, I declined. Dave went ahead and got it for me for Mother's Day and it was one of the top presents, usage-wise, he's given me. It is soooo light which makes moving from the couch to the floor to the bed so easy. I don't bother with my kindle fire except for reading as this is just so light and convenient.
7. Huggies Overnights Diapers - I'd say about a month and a half ago, the babies were starting to occasionally wake up wet through their sleeper. They were sleeping longer stretches at night and at the 10pm feed, they'd wake up when we changed their diaper. Luckily these have done the trick and we've had very few accidents since. The diapers do weigh about 3lbs when we take them off in the morning, but they work from approximately 7pm-7am.
8.  Amazon Prime - I'd say the #1 thing moms should subscribe to. There are so many things you end up needing for babies, big or small, and going to the store or to a Target to get them is just such a pain. With prime, I can have it in two days and you can find just about everything you need, at a great price. With Amazon Moms, you also get 20% off diapers and wipes and we combine that with Subscribe and Save so every month we get 20% off our whole order of the things we use most.
9. Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo - I was so against bringing these huge pieces into our room, but they've been a hit and now that both babies are moving around, it's a great spot to keep them contained for a few minutes. We bought them used from another twin mom (also got the baby einstein one) so got a great price.
