We Eat | Lunch: Ferry Building Pastrami Sandwich

It's no secret I'm obsessed with the Ferry Building, but going on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays is even better as they have the food stands out. Now that the babies are eating lunch every day, and we're normally out at that time, I find it easiest to get something while we're out. They're totally over spoon-feeding, only allowing a bit of it, like with yogurt in the morning, so it's easier for me to just give them bites of what I'm eating. Obviously I don't feed them everything I have -- no cheeseburgers and fries, but I am fairly open with letting them try what I'm having.

This week, I decided on a pastrami sandwich on a challah bun from Wise Sons. I've had it many times before and this is such high quality meat, and unlike most pastrami, doesn't leave you needing to compensate with 6 gallons of water later in the day. Best of all, it's served with two pickles, which I don't eat, but the boys got as a special treat.

I brought along some cheese and frozen peas which thawed while we walked. They liked everything, but the pickle is definitely their favorite. I couldn't pry the last bit out of George's hand without him crying. I was afraid he was going to choke on the end so I broke it up but he was not happy to have it taken away, even momentarily.
