Fall Favorites

I finally had to turn on the heat last night so I guess it's officially fall. Dave is in New York and it's like 20 degrees so hard to classify the 66 degrees we had today in SF as fall, but there's definitely been a crispness in the air within the last week.

The boys have transitioned to more long-sleeve t-shirts and fall-colored pants and shoes. Our dinners certainly reflect the season. And even some of their of-the-moment books are autumn-themed. Here is a list of our top fall favorites.

1. Wickle Woo Has a Halloween Party - They love all the tabs to pull in this cute board book.
2. Pumpkin everything at Trader Joe's - I've stocked my cart on every TJ's visit over the last month because I know one day they shelves will be cleared of pumpkin and that will be it until next fall. Some of my favorites are the Pumpkin Os (they're pretty sweet so I mix them with regular Os for me and the boys), Pumpkin Waffles, ideally served with Pumpkin Butter. We've also gotten the Pumpkin Ravioli, Pumpkin-Spiced Pumpkin Seeds, Pumpkin Cornbread and Pumpkin Ice Cream. I'm sure the list goes on.
3. Pumpkin recipes - so many features on the past few weeks of What We Ate, but a few favorites include Pumpkin Pie Baked Oatmeal, One Pot Creamy Pumpkin Pasta, Pumpkin Pork Chili and Pumpkin Crumb Muffins.
4. Janie and Jack caps - I absolutely love the look of the newsboy hat and Janie and Jack has some really cute ones to choose from. Though the last week or so they've been solely obsessed with fedoras and won't wear these hats, we did get some great use out of them so far and
5. High Tops - I got the boys several pairs, including this pair of Toms and several from Gymboree. They're so cute for winter and are surprisingly easy to get on.
6. Old Navy gray skinny jeans - These are so cute on the boys and are perfect for the season. I bought them when they were on sale so they were less than $10 a pair. I'm pretty sure I stocked up on at least size 2T... I'm hoping as they're out of stock now/can't even link to the page.
7. Splendid Henley Baseball Nightshirt  - I bought a Splendid nights at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a few years ago and it's held up so well and is the softest material. When they had these henley nighties on sale this past summer, I bought two and I've found they're the perfect coverage for fall; a bit warmer than a regular nighty, but doesn't make you hot like actual pjs would.
8. Fall book - This is such a simple book. Only a few pages, each with a single picture and word, but different textures to feel. But they love this book. And have since last fall. Anything they've loved for that long is pretty impressive. I guess I should look into the other seasons in this same series...
9. Giraffe at Home blanket - Or better known in this household as 'The Family Blanket'. Another Anniversary Sale purchase, I bought the largest size of this luxuriously soft blanket with visions of us all cuddled up under it watching movies in years to come. Well, Dave is never cold enough to be able to sit under this blanket, but I love that the boys have started to sit under it and read books. I think this will get plenty of use in years to come.
