Favorite Books - The First Two Years

My mom is a book-lover so pretty much from the time the boys were born, books started slowly trickling into our house. We now have two back-up boxes that we use to rotate with the ones on their bookshelves in their room, the playroom and the living room, plus the bag of books in the car. The majority of the books get use, but it's funny how certain books reach a peak and are read multiple times a day for several weeks and then quickly fade out to not be picked up again for months.

I've already gotten rid of a bunch of our 'baby' books and there's already a secondary books that were good for 1-year-olds but are ready to be packed away too. Many of these books we've had for two years and there are certain authors that have been very popular or just individual books. Here are our favorites from the first two years.

First year or so



 12 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 (and others by Sandra Boynton) / 8 (and other Things to Learn) / 9 (and other Eric Carle books, especially sound books / 10 (Summer, Fall and Winter too) / 11 / 12 (and several similar ones) / 12 (and a variety of touch and feel books, books with flaps and books with buttons to push) / 13 (and a variety of touch and feel books, books with flaps and books with buttons to push) / 14 (and similar 'first words' picture books - had so many!)

Second year + current favorites


1 (and others in the collection) / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 15 / 16 / 17 / 18 / 19 (and I was going to say other Dr. Seusses -- had no idea this one wasn't by Dr. Seuss!) / 20 / 21 / 22 / and basically any other truck or construction book / one more that I forgot to include and won't spend the time to re-do the above ;)... We're Going on a Bear Hunt, definitely one of their favorites!
