Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Weekend

Multiple moms had recommended a stay at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. We were actually thinking about going last year as a last hurrah trip with the boys before I got any later in my pregnancy with Colette, but alas, it turned out to be the weekend we discovered there were complications with the pregnancy. What a treat to be able to be here with three happy and healthy kids a little over a year later.

We headed down during naptime on Friday and the kids couldn't wait to go to the boardwalk. We talked them into checking out the pool instead. The hotel really is awesome, the rooms are fun and nicely done, and all include balconies. The pool is right below and then another level below that is the beach. Two blocks away is the Boardwalk. We ended up staying at the pool through dinner.

Saturday was foggy, which was expected, so we hit the Boardwalk first thing to ride all the rides. The fog burned off around lunchtime and we headed back to the hotel for quiet time before going to the beach and pool again. Megan and her boyfriend came to hangout for a bit, before we headed back to the room to get everyone ready for bed, and Dave and I ready for dinner out with Megan and Marcus. We had the best babysitter for the kids and really fun and tasty dinner out.

Sunday morning we packed up and headed over to Megan and Marcus' to meet their new puppy, so cute!! Then we headed up to Roaring Railroads, a place for train fanatics that had always been on 'the list' to do, but the boys don't love trains enough for us to make a trip down there just for that. We had a fun train ride, though I think one visit will be enough for us. The hour-plus ride was a bit long for the boys and Colette napped, though she did have G's cold and was feeling off from teething.

Overall, it was such a fun weekend and I think we'll definitely be back to the Dream Inn. The rides are so fun for the boys (and Colette can even go on some) and being right on the beach, with a pool, can't be beat.
